Resembling The Anthology’s signature cream to honey, this fabric is woven exclusively for us by a renowned specialist mill in Scotland. Fabric in soft lambswool that is fabricated with a special technique that adds warmth and an impressive brushed quality which resonates with the ‘shaggy dog’, a chunky, woolly sweater-like effect but applied to sport jacketing.

Specifically sourced from the exclusive archive of Savile Row, this is a vintage fabric from the 90s, beautifully woven and preserved by W. Bill — an ingenious mix of fine merino, Angora and cashmere which offers luxurious softness while managing to retain drape and shape. Jacket is in a beautiful forest green which is extremely versatile and compliments most pieces in the wardrobe, be it with dress shirt, knitwear or denim.

Cream/off white dinner jacket first originated in the early 1930s as a variation of the traditional black tie, fashioned by a herd of affluent progenitors who travelled to tropical destinations. The colour was usually complimented by the material in order to bring the least amount of discomfort to the wearer whilst donning formal jacket and trousers under the feverish heat.

As the old times pass by, black tie garments in heavyweight wool barathea bejeweled with silk satin covered buttons and lapels lack the breadth of moment to shine, let alone opera pumps and cummerbunds. Especially this year, 2020, case in point, humanity endures series of unfortunate events. With the lack of social activities and affairs, the use of black tie consequentially deteriorates.

An average individual would merely own one set of black tie in the wardrobe, be it a single or double-breasted, in peak or in shawl lapels, but rarely two. Living in the modern world, most of us do not find the means to invest in the second set of black tie garments as they only come in handy a few times throughout the year. This is where the cream sport jacket comes in. It is meant to be worn as a casual jacket, yet can be reinterpreted as a form of dinner jacketing. Keep the same pair of trousers that you always wear, but spare an extra opportunity to don a black tie appropriate jacket without having to solely commit to an entire old-school ensemble — a modern take on black tie with relevant classic references, keeping its old-school charm but also taking things slightly more adventurous.
