Workman Raw Chambray Shirts

Back in 2021, a spread collar chambray shirt was introduced as one of our first propositions of the Advanced Made-To-Order Shirting Program. Chambray has been considered one of our most beloved fabric choices for shirting because of its versatility. With a blue warp and a white weft woven together, while denim can be sturdy and stiff, chambray can be the opposite: lightweight and airy, with a softer feel. The less rigid fabrication suits various occasions and is easily a crowd-pleaser with its alluring texturing and comfortable sensation.

Our first chambray shirt was designed with a spread collar, a clean front with minimal detailing, sans-pocket, with only the highest level of 22-23 stitches per inch (SPI) specification to convey its understated beauty. Consider the earlier predecessor a good starting point, a sweet spot where it can finesse between dressy and casual times, sometimes with a tie but mostly not. As our wardrobe coverage broadens, the house is not only creators of sartorial menswear, but we also overarch everyday pieces that can offer the same quality with varying identities that we curate from our inspirations. Small changes lead to big differences. We introduce you to the new chambray series, following our Workman Shirt model. Designed to be more robust and a more suitable style for layering during the colder days, the new Workman Chambray Shirts come denser in cloth and raw in finishing, also with major stylistic detail changes to convey an uplifted spirit of a vintage work shirt, such as the U.S.N. chambray shirt, except that, the design is not a reproduction, but a culmination of both the old and the present for a modern interpretation.

Contrasting white-stitches, creating a strong outline to the pockets, gussets and detailing across the shirting piece.

Instead of applying our usual Mother of pearl buttons, we specifically sourced some vintage two hole buttons for a more cohesive look.

The raw chambray fabrics are available in three colours: Blue, Red and Vanilla. The Vanilla is almost an alter ego in opposition to the classic Blue and Red, offering a fitting amount of cleanliness to the garment a hint of modernity. When adorned with the Workman style details and trimmings, thankfully, the shirt shuns the look of a dressy shirt and remains suitably casual.

Casper styles the Vanilla piece with our Deep Olive Cotton Drill Civilman Trousers.
