Harris And Tweed — A Collaboration Jacket With JKF Man

Well over a year in preparation for this project, The Anthology is proudly introducing you to our collaboration Harris Tweed sport jacket with iconic menswear photographer Jamie Ferguson, aka JKF Man.

Words by Jamie Ferguson

If you had to boil it down, this all started with wanting a dope jacket. It’s funny to think that I started this project, alongside my collaborators, over a year ago and now, here we are, launching proper.

When I was 15, I moved from Canada to a tiny village in Scotland where my mother grew up. I spent my last few formative years at the local school and then attended University in Aberdeen. Throughout these periods, on downtime, I would often travel with my family through the Scottish Highlands to places like the Cairngorms, Skye and Ullapool. I always remember these trips fondly as well as the colour and beauty that you experience in that part of the world.

Scotland has always been a part of who I am and as I’ve grown older I’ve found myself wanting to incorporate more of my heritage into my wardrobe and the way I dress.

When I thought about what cloth I would use there was only one name that popped into my head; Harris Tweed. The final piece of the puzzle for this project was a partner; someone who could make a beautiful jacket, someone whose style I've admired and where the jacket could sit comfortably amongst their own collections. Again, only one name sprang to mind: The Anthology.

I wanted something a little bit different and something that I could have a hand in; to put my own little twist on it. Harris Tweed sent over some swatches of their deadstock houndstooth, from which I selected one and asked if they could swap out two colours to give it a feeling representative of the colouring that I loved seeing in the Highlands during summer break. Think, pinks and purples, reds and oranges, beiges and blacks. After some back and forth we settled on the variation that would go into the small run for production.

Before the launch, we knew we wanted to take a road trip across the north of Scotland and make the pilgrimage to Harris to see where the cloth was woven and photograph the campaign to accompany everything. We kept it small, mobile and most importantly, fun. It certainly helps when you're getting pelted with rain!

I know this isn’t revolutionary or particularly ground-breaking but damn I had a blast making it. Good people and good clothes with a little nod to what shaped me. I hope you enjoy it. Slainte.

The fabric is in traditional tweed woven in Scotland by the one and only Harris Tweed, made with unique twists through the iconic menswear photographer's discerning eye for colours and attention to detail. The jacket represents the creator's Scottish upbringing, with colours from the Scottish Highlands that he depicted from childhood.

The specially developed Harris Tweed carries unfathomable colours that are surprisingly wearable. Soft, dusty blues and pinks, with a beige and brown base, gathering various elements from opposing ends. Bridging the cool with the warm and balanced with a set of neutrals in both bright and dark. Harmoniously executed in one garment, it remains well as a versatile piece.

The jacket follows our usual house style: extended shoulders with subtle roping, soft and unpadded, patch pockets on the waist, fully lined and canvassed.
