'Uptown Man', Fall/Winter Lookbook

In a highly urbanised society, where technology rewires the human brain and modern developments gentrify the city, uniformity reigns while unity falters, eroding the soul of each unique location. What remains is a semblance of convenience, devoid of individuality and artistic purpose. As Hugo MacDonald eloquently noted in Wallpaper magazine, ‘The efficiency that post-war technology and manufacturing presented in design was intended to make our lives better, healthier, cleaner. But, over time, the aesthetic of modernism became divorced from its values. It was an easy look to copy, with little need to engage in the more complex objectives that it embodied. The design industry, aided ably by shelter titles, celebrated, then diluted modernism from a progressive movement into a commercial trend.’

This tale follows a countryman with a curious eye, venturing into the heart of the Big Apple. Throughout his journey, he grapples with an internal resistance to change, holding fast to his organic way of life. The urban lifestyle clashes with his country roots, yet as he explores the city's nooks and crannies, he discovers the hidden charms of each area, ultimately finding a harmonious medium. This transformation doesn't compromise his essence; instead, while slowly going from downtown New York to uptown, each part of the town inspires a new outfit, symbolising the integration of his style with the house’s curated fashion. He becomes an Anthologist, exemplifying how personal attire can merge seamlessly with the house’s designs, and vice versa.

With curators from all over the world, The Anthology designs are a hallmark of cultural exchange. We curate fine things and inspirations from diverse industries, cultures, people, and objects. By living and thinking from others' perspectives, we catalyse the birth of new ideas and ideologies, enriching our collection as we progress every season, every year.

This collection is primarily inspired by the darker colour schemes of the countryside as we head into autumn and winter. However, we reimagine and reinterpret the use of colours and textures, making fine tweaks to every traditional country hue found in corduroys and estate tweeds. A shade lighter or darker, with a different blend of elements, transforms these classic tones into completely urban outcomes, transcending their countryside origins. Our creators have dedicated immense effort to perfecting the delicate balance, ensuring that every item seamlessly integrates into the modern world while still celebrating our profound appreciation for the beauty and charm of the past. This homage to tradition reflects a life of tranquillity, far removed from the hustle and bustle of contemporary living.
