La Bowtique Bowties for The Anthology

This is a part of our Three Surprises of Christmas series.

As we continue to revel in the spirit of our featured colour of the season — black, what better way to conclude the year than by delving into the world of eveningwear to draw 2023 to a close on a resounding note? In this pursuit of eveningwear extravaganza, the name La Bowtique Bowties emerges.

Founded by Mickael Korausch, La Bowtique Bowties transcends the ordinary, offering an experience in accessories that redefines the art of eveningwear with a trinket of French glamour. Like many, Korausch's journey commenced with a simple frustration — a passionate Frenchman on a quest for bowties that resonated with his discerning taste and exacting standards, disheartened by the world of corner-cutting soulless commercial products.

Undaunted by the limited options in the market, Korausch embarked on a self-taught journey of craftsmanship, fueled by a deep desire to create extraordinary pieces that would stand out. His commitment to excellence took an unexpected turn when, a retired seamstress and friend of his mother became his invaluable mentor. Under her guidance, Korausch refined his skills and cultivated a profound appreciation for the artistry of bespoke accessories. He then moved to London, serving some of Savile Row’s oldest houses, while moonlighting as the ‘secret maker’ of the beautiful bow ties.

At odds against conventional market offerings, La Bowtique Bowties boast a distinctive style — always full, never flat, imbued with dynamic lines that bring them to life. The collaboration introduces an innovative technique, presenting unlined bowties with a small, elegant middle knot and large, exaggerated, contrasted wings. This unique approach captures the essence of old-world Hollywood glamour and a quintessential 50s-inspired aesthetic while seamlessly integrating modernity through its fluid silkiness and reduced substance via its unlined construction. The design concept finds its roots in aligning with The Anthology's house aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the soft angular curves, lines, waves, and parabolas presented in lapel arches, rolls, shoulder outlines and jacket's opening quarters.

The silk cummerbund by La Bowtique marks a refined evolution in design, tailored to our eveningwear and bow tie silhouette. It replaces the original five-panel construction with a sleeker four-panel configuration. Despite this reduction in panels, La Bowtique maintains the cummerbund's dimensions by widening each panel, ensuring it retains the same height and width that has come to define the brand's commitment to both style and functionality, always covering the entire waistband. Each layer is carefully panelled, stitched and folded entirely by hand with a one-piece of flawless silk, a sophisticated and compulsory accessory that complements the bow tie's golden era aesthetic, appealing to those who appreciate the finer details in black-tie attire.
