Different ways to style the Grey Herringbone Sport Jacket

We like to describe our Herringbone Jacket as a chameleon. Although it is nothing high-tech and propounds as a constant object, the uniquely scaled pattern and balanced colour palette sit universally well under different states of affairs, whether you are an Ivy Style patron, a minimalist, or a formal or casual dresser. We documented a series with film photographer Alex Natt on how this can be presented in different ways based on the other components you wear, ensuring you get your full style mileage with our signature garment.

Beginning with the Ivy look. Dress tie, shirt and jacket, and of course, if you have matching trousers in the same cloth you may also complete a whole suit set for a full-on sartorial approach. (Anthology customers can have them made bespoke or made-to-measure with us. If you already own a pair of ready-to-wear trousers with us, you may also speak to the team for a potential custom pair to complete the set.) There is a small reason behind our thinking of the absence of its lower half in the existing collection. Apart from a slight reminiscence of period clothing, tweed trousers can be oddly specific. With its natural loose weaving structure, trousers creases don’t hold up well and they lose form quickly. With many Anthologists’ functionality considerations in mind, they are likely not the piece one would reach for. Hence, demand service is proposed.

An American grunge look — a slight deviation from a clean, dressy Ivy style, but a little more preppy and casual. The ensemble features just an Oxford shirt in plain white, but of course, each to their own, any other OCBD shirts would also do. We also adore our Fine Yellow Oxford Shirt a lot for that touch of vintage-ness, perfect to pair with denim, then a pair of heavier boots, ranging from chukka, or Chelsea to any double-layered sole hiking or hunting boots would even stay align with the grand scheme of things.

The minimal look. Some may suggest this borrows a partial Scandinavian palette, which we do not disagree with. Everything is clean and neat, with no fuss and no drama — unambiguously, a navy fine cashmere rollneck and our Vanilla ‘Pod’ Denim Civilman Trousers. The same look can also be achieved in White Denim for a stark, clean look. At this moment, sneakerheads can consider calling for a pair of low-tops, but we say a classic pair of loafers or refined Chukka or Chelsea boots can extend the style mileage. There's nowhere they can't bring you.
