Styling The Knitted Sweater

Athletes wore sweaters, and so did painters, manual and office workers — whether it be uniform or choice, everyone from all walks of life owned at least a sweater or two. A piece worn for sports events in the late 1800s, then fashioned in the 1920s by designers, sweaters have now come in various forms and materials. Our recent introduction of the knitted sweater is an idea based on a cut-and-sew 'sweatshirt' to sweat in, hence machine washable, but with crocheted sweater's knitting to look more poised and luxe for our Anthologists' elevated essentials day or a piece to complement casual tailoring. Like the house's signature knitted t-shirts, the sweater is the extension of it with multiple modifications suited for this long-sleeved version.

Three ways to wear it

Crafted in a way of a sweater with a hybrid rendition of a sweater and sweatshirt, the new knitted sweater is a fall/winter solo piece analogous to our knitted t-shirt one can comfortably sweat in, dirty up and throw into the laundry post-wear. It was our vision when designing it, dressing sans shirt collar, bare neck with the optional neckerchief.

Dressing a shirt underneath is a timeless look. With the abbreviated cut as per our usual t-shirts, they are designed to suit smart trousers and bring together a good look with tailored jacket, and the occasional suit in a considered, casual fabric.

Details

The knitted sweater is a new design that will long live in our collection from now on. The debut symbolises the expansion of our signature knitted t-shirts, now knitted in a long-sleeve version with iterations on weave for transitional weather - it is more than a t-shirt. A 6-ply cotton executed in a chunkier weave for a more structural body, it is a step up of the casual, American sweatshirts with more distinctive proportions that are tailored for a more elegant look, be it worn solo or under tailoring.

The design is raglan-sleeved, with a four-stripe detail as strengtheners to the ribbings as they go in opposite directions to the cuffs and hem, retaining good form in the long run.

In line with the ‘Pitch Black’ theme, here is an attempt to go almost full black for the maximal flair of avant-garde with the special made-to-order Polo Coat which was previous worn in a different setting. This time with black corduroy Civilman Trousers and a pair of sleek Chelsea boots for a stealthy-chic look.
