Spring 26 Part II — Tropical Cavalry Twill Suits & Artefacts

With the second chapter of our Spring collection, we move deliberately away from pastoral calm. Leaving behind the quiet order of stables and open fields, we return to the city, shifting from layered outerwear toward our core tailoring, and from the organic to the industrial. It is a change in setting, but also a recalibration of intent.

Equine in origin, and woven into the fabrics of memory, cavalry twill was worn by mounted soldiers during wartime. It was designed to endure the rigours of riding, to withstand cold, friction, and long hours in the saddle. Thick, purposeful, resilient—the cloth carried both function and discipline. Yet within its density there was something quietly expressive. The diagonal twill itself. If infatuation had a soundtrack, Ella Fitzgerald’s “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” would come close to capturing our own. And if that feeling was translated into cloth, our devotion to cavalry twill would be named simply: Ingrained, Imprinted, and Infatuated—a reflection of both the material itself and our state of mind, full stop.

Since the formative days we got into tailoring, we have long been besotted by that rhythm, by the way structure and tactility intersect. The challenge of reimagining cavalry twill for spring and summer became a study in balance. How does one temper a fabric historically rooted in weight and warmth without erasing its character? The answer lies in refinement and a few tries of bold decisions. The result is a spritely, dry, high-twist weave. It retains the sculptural character of the original, yet offers breath across the warmer seasons. Two yarns twisted tightly together lend resilience and clarity, preserving the unmistakable visual language of cavalry twill while lightening its feel. It remains sculptural, but now breathes with ease across warmer seasons.

Our spring campaign began as a nod to the fabric’s equestrian lineage, photographed in the countryside among open fields and working stables. These landscapes echo its past—ordered yet alive, formal yet in quiet conversation with nature. But this is not a study in uniform or reenactment. Today, cavalry twill is no longer bound to codes of dress or institutional function. It has been pared back, softened in intent, and reimagined as an aesthetic element—something to be worn with ease, even as separates, and integrated naturally into daily life.

This series was photographed in an abandoned corner of Hong Kong—a former paper box factory that once pulsed quietly within the city’s everyday rhythm, now left behind by its relentless pace. What was once an essential industry, a humble art woven into daily life, has slowly slipped into memory, its purpose softened, its presence fading with time. There is a personal ache in this loss. In our earliest days, this was a place we worked with—where our first packaging boxes were made, folded, and sent out into the world. To see it emptied of movement is to feel time pass, irreversibly and without ceremony.

Cavalry twill, however, is not destined for the same silence. Set against this backdrop of absence and remembrance, we seek to rekindle it—to draw it back into the present with care and conviction. To return attention, relevance, and life to a fabric that, like memory itself, refuses to be forgotten.

Once a heavyweight cloth defined by formality, this cavalry twill is lighter, with high-twist yarns and a more open construction that offers comfort from spring through summer and into early autumn, placing it at the lighter end of a true three-season garment while preserving its sense of strength and presence.

What defines it most is its architecture. The structured form within the cloth allows tailoring to shape lines and edges with precision. Sculpted, engineered silhouettes emerge from the material itself; a garment holds form before it is even worn. Yet it is never rigid. Over time, the cloth softens subtly, responding to the body, adapting to the wearer while preserving its identity.

This depth of tactility, this quiet strength, remains our guiding principle. Cavalry twill carries memory and intention in equal measure: marked by history, yet open to reinvention. Imprinted by time, but always looking forward. Once again, Sempre Avanti.
